Joel Parkinson injured but Not Broken!

Numerous rumours arose this morning that Joel Parkinson’s world title hopes had come to an end at the hands of an ill-fated air-reverse in Bali a day or two back. Waves just received conformation from Joel’s performance consultant and former pro-surfer Luke Egan that the rumours are in fact a big pile of horseshit and Parko’s 2009 ASP world title campaign is back on track. Here is what Louie said about the situation: “Joel has a minor muscle strain in his calf. He will be back in the water for the big swell coming this weekend. He is walking around the house and contemplating training which doesn’t involve his injured area. We had a bit of a fright for the first hour yesterday after Joel injured himself but all afternoon he’s improved. Then this morning he felt much better.” Joel also denounced the same gossip on his Twitter page: “No, it isn’t true, I haven’t stuffed my ankle! Just a minor muscle strain and I’ll be back in the water in a few days. Still in Bali.” The Trestles world tour event is due to get underway in September. Joel is expected to be 100% by the time the comp is up and running .
