this is a very prominent issue for me stu…..away from the beach in melbournes western suburb of werribee, i become a dog walker, and when walking the dog im sadened, and disgusted by what i see, and, equally sadly, ashamed to be a human, as im a contributer to the litter i see around me, while walking the dog around 2 or 3 blocks….lets say 1500 metres….icould fill a wheel barrow and just yesterday .was thinking of doing an educational video clip, and will now do so for sure, and forward it to you in a month or so.i always pick up rubbish..cans plastic and glass bottles durrie packets n butts(hoping to save some poor fishes intestines)shit loads of mcchucks wrappers bags n drink containers etc, and, in four years in wezza ive never seen one other person pick up a scrap of rubbish….this is how ridiculous the situation has become……on the dog leash is a canister full of bags so when the mutt needs to lay a cable, by law, im obliged to pick it up in one of the plastic bags(in the cannister), parade around with the yapper, happily swinging a bag of yapper shit, to be descreatly/politely deposited in a bin when convenient for the betterment of society… like get fucked !!!!!to all the whingers out there unhappy with a bit of dog ditty on our lawns and pathways….get fucked !!!!! to all the legal fuckwits/supposed leaders of wisdom, who passed motions and approved these frogshit!!! laws!!!!, wasting my taxes in the proccess…..its this simple..the dog shit is better for the environment than the bag…..the bag stays unused if you just squash the cable and let nature do its thing, hose it down if it disturbs you so! and dont forget to wipe your thong or shoe before ya get in the door or shell be all over you like a bad rash……how are children and immigrants being educated, re package usage and throwing away rubbish? if the average aussie is too shy or too stupid to at least pick up rubbish left behind by an even more stupid/ignorant being….what future is there for us as a country or world. its mainly about not buying the garbage in the first place.eg buy soaps in boxes of five or more without excessive wrappers…..in australia we have good water,i have a alumin drink bottle in my car and a stainless thermo, which i always fill with water, and rarely buy bottled water, its unneccessary , and a massive money spinner for companies like coca cola….there are thousands of like dillemmas re unneccessary and irresponsible packaging and marketing and an environmental disaster, as your kindly making us aware. if every one reduces the amount of rubbish purchased, were getting some where…..but this countrys, about having what every one else has and more consumption,as we gotta keep the economy going. i think long term unemployed and all new australians, should spend time cleaning up and recycling as an education, and the major shareholders in companys like mcdonalds and coca cola foot the bill and be held more accountable for irresponsible marketing, as should our leaders for allowing reckless promotion/consumption of such products, with the accompanying waste problems and a positive move toward a better country/ world. im blown away by this situation. its grade prep eduction and mathematics….too many people, too much rubbish, irresponsible living, diminishing land and ocean environment, sadly were all too far removed from nature, thus weve screwed up natures balance.thats why at times im ashamed to be a human. we all have a right to live, and being at top of the chain an obligation to live responsibly. from mick

If you see someone throwing rubbish out at the beach, take down their number plate and give it to the EPA:
http://epa.tas.gov.au/regulation/report-littering
Further from home it’s amazing how you can go on a surf trip to an uninhabited island in the middle of the Pacific or Indian ocean… and it’s covered in trash that came with the current.
What Mick said is spot on – don’t buy stuff with lots of plastic packaging in the first place. If one of your mates is buying bottled water, set em straight. Tests have proven that the stuff from the tap is often better quality.
